Leaving

In an hour or two I'm heading to Syria. A Syrian American friend of mine is going to his family's place in Homs, and I figured it would be better to have someone who speaks Arabic with me than not. From there I'll hopefully get to Damascus, then Cairo. Off I go.

Like I wrote in an earlier comment, if you are unable to go to Cairo, you are more than welcome to take the Latakia- Mersin ferry (see: http://taheny.com/2006/06/new-mersin-turkey-to-latakia-syria.htm) and crash in Mersin.

I'm an Aussie AIESEC alumni now living in Turkey. Give me an email (joe @ taheny . com) if I am able to help.

Thanks for keeping us posted.

That's good news.

Chris, do give us a shout whenever you can. Egypt might be easiest, but if you find getting to Dubai is easier, you know you have a place to stay.
